A Shift
I traveled back to the west coast this weekend for a wedding. Coast to coast flights are always draining but they give me an unbridled opportunity to do a lot of thinking. What? Facebook buys Instagram for $1 Billion
A few Monday thoughts as the tech community reels from post-lunch shock: 1) Revenue means nothing. $0 of revenue -> $1 Billion acquisition. 2) Stanford grads are awesome (Kevin was Class of 2006.) 3) Vanity is an underrated market.

Gaming: Is it over? Has it only begun?
I’ve spent some time this month looking into the gaming investment roadmap and its peculiarities. In software, one can make the generalization that it is easier to make forward-looking bets. I wouldn’t say any investment is easy but the metrics of the software business are often in line with a steady flow of recurring revenue and a more or less developed product sold to large enterprise customers....

Making the iPad "Artist-Friendly"
Spent the weekend amazed by the new “Paper” App by FiftyThree inc. - a development company of multiple former Microsoft engineers.  Think of it like your very own sketchbook, except on the iPad.
